LIFT Independent Travel Training

Organisation type: Local Authority

Lift Training is a multi award-winning programme that empowers disabled, disadvantaged and vulnerable people with the skills and confidence they need to independently travel to school and college.

Lift Training provides personalised one to one support for learner in Worcestershire between the ages of 12 to 25 years. The travel trainers work with learners to increase their independence, confidence and self-esteem on a specific journey to school or college. The course covers areas like road safety, personal safety, stranger danger and emergency strategies. As well as learning the journey, Lift also offers two levels of Edexcel accredited qualifications to expand that young person’s understanding of journey planning and preparation.

The course is approximately 10 sessions with journeys carried out in real time starting at the young person’s home to the school or college to give a realistic experience of that journey.

Lift Training is a free course funded by Worcestershire County Council and run by National Star. If you could like any further information please take a look at our website www.liftproject.org.uk or for further information please email lift-worcestershire@org.uk
